Re: If you were to go on One Last Trip !

Well, finally made it back last week at 1am in the rain. A nice welcome back to the UK after 15 days of solid sunshine and blue skies.

What a trip, anyone wanting to head to the arctic I cannot recommend it enough it really does have everything to offer, dont put it off forever get it done you wont regret it.

The only essentail bit of kit is a travel fly rod which 2 years ago i neglected to take, this time I took it and had some unforgettable moments wrestling with mighty 6 oz Trout and Char.

I even managed to produce a final DVD as a souvenir, which I decided to do at the last minute and I really pleased I did once i got into the swing of it.

Bike did have an issue as it dropped onto one cylinder but I have to say once I got home I stripped it down, cleaned and polished it to within an inch of its life and gave it a complete service of everything including stripping and regreasing all the linkages etc

    It looks almost new again

It now pulls like a train and runs as smooth as silk - they really are top bikes arent they

Time to hang up the panniers though and hang the keys up

Anyways as the great Vinnie Jones once said : Its been emotional

    Chris

    Chris,

Just responded to a "thunk" on the door mat - you truely are a gentleman & a scholar.

If I can make it to the national, you'll be getting some payback

If I can't make it to the national, you'll be getting some payback anyway

Now, wot you doing with that well travelled machine of yours?

    Thanks yet again,

    Humbly yours,

    Steve T

Great to hear about your successful trip .. but not so good to read your hanging the keys up.

DO let me know what you think Steve ( I know you will anyway )

Dont know what to do with the bike really, was planning on taking it over to Canada next year and selling it over their after my trip but not sure whats going to happen to her now.

She is tucked up now under her cover waiting for me to decide or waiting for someone to come along ( mind u if i dont advertise her its never going to happen )

Not sure if i can bare to part with hermonies not th issue but I know for a fact that if I keep her, I will spend the winter planning another trip so I might have to consider selling her in the longterm or risk breaking my promise

Not giving up bikes completely though, I am going back to old English Classics possibly a Norton or a nice BSA for those once a month trips out to keep me sane.

Chris, the man that doesn't use pubic hair to snare snakes!

    THANK YOU

Having just watched the whole thing, I'm honestly choked up. Apart from saying that you have truelly excelled yourself with this effort, I'll try and form some sort of coherent write up on the production tomorrow - right now I'm just lost for words.

    My Thoughts

Well, as said previously, having watched Farmboy’s latest production I am, as I was last time, green with envy. The man certainly knows how to plan & execute an adventure holiday. I understand that he has ventured into the colder climes before (I’ve seen the production from that adventure as well ), but he still manages to produce fantastically scenic footage of stupendously beautiful bits of countryside in a most humble yet humorous way – hence the comment in my last post. He must have covered nearly double the mileage he needed too, due to his having to place the camera, ride away from the camera, ride back towards the camera and then, finally, ride back to the camera to pick it up!
The whole production is so professional that I could easily believe that Chris was actually a film producer and not doing what he does for a living (I’ll let him tell you – it’s classified ). His choice of music to accompany the production is brilliant, defining, I think, Chris’s own feelings on each stage of his trip. At times the combination of music and scene really did have me there next to him, feeling what I believe he was feeling.
Chris has undertaken trips that many of us can only dream of doing, for what ever reason. To others, he has set in motion thoughts that lead to plans that lead to adventures that lead to long and fondly lasting memories. Bless him for his efforts & his inspiration, I say.
His final statement to camera was, to me, rather moving. I have the utmost respect for Chris and his commitment to keeping his word.

Chris, thank you again for sharing the joy and, possibly, the sadness, of your last adventure. You have another vocation waiting for you, should your current line of work dry up
