If you were to go on One Last Trip !

After much deliberation and consideration I have decided that this years trip will be my final one

A very very tough decision to make but Its time to get out whilst I am still in one piece so my big question is where to go for one Final Voyage.

I had originally plumped for Mongolia, but going solo doesnt really fill me with joy and a 23 000 mile round trip is getting towards the limit of funding etc...

I then planned a trip over to the Andes in Chile via Argentina but again I didnt really fancy going solo in case of emergencies.

My heart keeps dragging me back up to The Arctic which to me is the best location for any sort of Adventure within a reasonable reach of the UK.

I have a idea in my head to travel through Norway via the Lofoten and upto Nordkapp, then over the top through Sweden right along the remote north eastern region toward Kirkenes and along the Russian Border, before heading back down through The Swedish Forestry and back onto the Roads - about 3-4 weeks in total

I have been before but not to the Russian/Finnish border area so any advice from people who have been to the area would be great before I make my decision.

Question is where would you go for one last trip with a £4000 budget and 3- 4 weeks max.

    Chris

I'm going to the Nordkapp in August, when will your trip start

I would love to go up the long way round but we have not enough time can only spare 10 days or so, so its quick route through Sweden and back down the west coast of Norway

I have got the campsites logged into the GPS as POI but probably only use them when we need a delause and scrub and still stick to "every mans rights" and camp where we want

4 grand will do nicely in New Zealand:

If you fly in and rent bikes there that is, so it might even do for your last-and-one trip if you get the itch again.

Having done Argentina and Chile for 3 months with my other half, I can't recommend it enough!! Two fabulous countries with fabulous people, especially Argentina! What a place!! Not a day goes by that I don't reminise about the places or people that we encounted.

Also don't view a trip in terms of miles to do. Where ever you go, I say don't think about the destination, but rather enjoy the places along the way. I'm sure this is all old news to you, but worth saying.

If you don't mind riding gravel roads and are willing to encounter the strongest crosswinds in the world, then go: you won't regret it!!

right then I have it narrowed down to two trips.

Either Norway up the west coast to Nordkapp then across through Sweden Finland and into Russia through the Kola Peninsula and back through Finland Sweden Norway and home - 3 weeks in total 5000 miles with about 1500 gravel.

    OR

Ride to Moscow then onto the Trans Mongolian to Mongolia and back through Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia and home, the biggest problem with this trip is time but I am waiting on a reply from the train company so its not out of the question yet. I might be able to get the train back to Moscow 2 weeks later which will save me sometime.
