    Norway (Nordkapp)Trip

Planning a trip to Norway next summer, can anybody tell me what things, places or roads I shouldn't miss on the way to Nordkapp.
    Thanks

Good choice of destination. Others are also heading that way next summer, so check out this thread for routing info. There's also an article and video of a previous trip. And finally some photos. Should be enough to get you started.

Thanks checked them all out, just can't wait.
    Couple more questions
    Which maps did you use
Do you have to book ferrys to cross fjords or can you just turn up
Can you recommend any good campsites?

On the map front we took a Michelin European road atlas. Not the biggest scale, but there aren't that many roads in Norway so it's quite hard to get lost. We also had a GPS unit, which was more useful to predict when we were going to arrive places, rather than for actual route planning. Far more pleasing, especially in the fjords, is to just pick small roads going in roughly the right direction.

The ferries across the fjords shuttle back and forwards as fast as they can go. We never waited more than half an hour for one. They were also strangely cheap, an unusual experience in Norway. Just turn up and there'll be one along in a minute.

We winged it on the campsite front. Every place of significance has a campsite, and we didn't experience any stinkers. We only had one near miss when we were trying to find somewhere in Hammerfest, but there was a convention in town and everywhere was full. We ended up riding back to Alta to a campsite there, but we could have roughed it and pitched a tent anywhere.

    HTH, Iain.

A very nice and scenic road is The Coastal route Kystriksvegen Rv17 that runs along the coastline between Steinkjer and Bodo, they got a website where you can download a very nice Travel Guide at http://www.rv17.no/index.krv?page=oversikt&lng=en

Well, I’m 16 and probably getting a job this summer and really want to travel and through this add on face book there was this educational teen tours thing and one that I really liked was this one to china but then it seemed a little expensive does anyone know of any good organizations that do this kind of thing that isn't too expensive. I don’t want to be like the only one that young so does anyone know of good sites for educational teen tours to places like china that aren’t too expensive?

I'd try to miss any reindeer on the road, but that's just personal preference! Good luck with the trip mate, sounds awesome, mid-night sun and all that!

Jepp! An absolutely must. The alternative (E6) is inland and boring as hell fom Trondheim to Mosjøen......but faster of course. Perhaps better if the weather is bad or on the way back.
I would go with the weatherforecasts. Spend the time where the weather is best.....bad weather in Northern Norway is not very bikerfriendly...
