    Gurgle Gurgle

    Hiya,
    I've had my tiger just over a fortnight now and it seems to run beautifully, but on a run out 15 miles or more when I come to a stop and switch off the coolant at the expansion tank seems to gurgle and fart quite a bit, is this normal? whilst travelling along the needle on the temp gauge is consistantly just over the the first marker (unless in traffic when it may slowly creep up abit) yesterday after a 25 mile ride the fan was running for a couple of minutes after switch off but yet again the temp gauge read perfectly normal, Is all this normal behaviour for the 955i Tiger?

    Ah well, hmmmm, mine does this also, but worse still, it chucks coolant all over the front of the bike and sometimes manages to hit the exhaust manifold! This turns it into a smouldering pile of steam, which although looks cool is a bit of a concern!
    According to the Tiger forum this is common and can be cured with a new radiator cap, although I tried the car one they mention and it was no better.
    When I get time I'll get round to fitting a new rad cap, but it's a load of work and will wait till the next service as the tank has to come off. I'll let you know how I get on! I'm just away to post my report on the Tigger over in France today so it'll give you more idea of the bike's capabilities.

    Got it sorted now thanks, but what a bloody job, I thought I'd start with completely bleeding the cooling system, so removed the front indicators, both seats battery, infill panels, battery tray and then disconnect fuel lines, (seemed to lose a lot of fuel here) gauge and pump supplies and then finally the tank. I knew straight away something was not quite right when I only managed to get 1.5 litres out when I drained the system, anyway bled it as per the service manual using the bleed screw at the cap (I also put a new cap on anyway while I'd got the tank off).
    Put it all back together again and it's solved al my overheating problems.....hooray I hear you say, not quite! when I put the tank back on I must have knocked the white fuel lines push fit fixing on the tank and cracked it so I'd got a fuel leak, fiddled with it a bit and it snapped off in my hand leaving the thread firmly stuck in the tank panel and dumped 3/4 a tank of fuel on the garage floor (No point crying over spilt petrol)

    All parts were in stock at Windy Corner at Hinckley so all sorted now, But what a soddin' job!!!!!!!
