im bloody fuming with myself for what i think is a classic school boy error and feeling so sorry for him after dropping him off at the station to get him home

hopefully he can get the parts tomorrow so i can get him back on the road.

still steaming i decide to have a troll through the triumph forum only to find that this seems to be a common problem

it would seem triumph issued a recall to replace the MALE part of the coupling from plastic to metal, and buggles bike has had this recall done.

but didnt issue a recall to replace the female part thats installed in the pump housing

and its this part thats gone on buggles bike

i mean FFS if your going to issue a recall then do the freakin job properly

but i still blame myself i feel maybe i could have avoided it

buggles im sorry but by hook or by crook i'll have you back on the road tomorrow mate
Before buying them check with a triumph dealer, there was a factory recall on them. The quick connectors on the fuel lines were faulty triumph recalled them my sprint st and tiger had them recalled can burst and leak at any time. If it hasn't been changed you could get them for free

It was only the male side that were recalled, both buggles and my own bikes have had that done.. the problem side of things (the female couplings) unfortunately are not part of the recall !!!!!!

Re: Dont talk to me about triumph fuel couplings

After I took my Tiger home after its 12,000 miles service I filled it up with fuel, parked it in the garage and went on holiday.

Came back a week later to find no fuel in the tank and an oil slick on the floor (where the petrol had dripped over the chain on its way down to the garage floor).

Took the dealer a week to fix the leak. Maybe they didn't know it was a common problem.

Serves me right for taking it to a Honda dealer. They are part of a group that also has Norfolk's major Triumph dealership and they promised me their mechanics were Triumph-trained.

i have to say that the fuel coupling issues aside the tiger is quite a nice bike to work on and the mantra for working on them must be

fuel coupling fuel coupling watch those ****in fuel couplings
The bike rides like a dream again. The K&N airfilter makes a difference, especially at low revs. It also sounds just a bit better at high revs (but that might be wishful thinking).

Crashbars look the business, and my headlights are so bright that I'm afraid to ride close to Heathrow for fear of a boeing landing on me

Many thanks to Chad for his help, tea, and good spirits!
