    Tiger headrace bearings

All you Tiger owners out there, have you felt a strange feeling in the steering? A bit nochy? Just not right? Well I did!

I decided I couldn't take it any more, it was starting to feel dangerous. I had to inspect the headstock as I was sure there was a problem with the steering but couldn't put my finger on it. I was shocked by what I found!

20,000 miles and three years old I first felt it, and this summer I decided to bite the bullet and investigate, the bottom (tapered) bearing was sitting in an inch of water! I've seen bikes with a hundred thou miles and bearings in better condition

I've replaced the bearings, bottom's a taper and the top's a roller bearing with a large circlip round the outside of it, £57 from Triumph (No way Shirlaws of Aberdeen, told them so on the phone as well!) £24 online. Anyone need any info on this let me know and I'll let you know.

Oh well, ho hum, Tiger's now back on the road and although I was very upset by this and considered getting rid of the bike, one good ride and I'm still in love with it!

Mines only done 14000 but I'll be checking mine tomorrow and perhaps get some grease in there just in case (feels ok at the moment though)
