Re: tiger honest views

Mine's a 2003 955i and I've never ridden an early one, so can't really offer advice, I'm afraid.

I love mine, though.

Re: tiger honest views

As the others, I have a 955 (2004). Can't comment on the early "steamer" but I love this one!

Have done 1K miles in 5 days, and loving every minute of it, brilliant bike!

Re: tiger honest views

I have had a 955 Tiger, 1150bmw GS and now ktm 950 adventure and can say out of the three the tiger is probably the best road/touring bike.

BMW was good comfort and fun to ride but a bit under powered, brilliant touring bike with a little off road capability, fantastic two up bike and good luggage. Very easy to maintain.

KTM great fun to ride, seems like it will be good for touring but haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Real off road ability and very nice on road. Only had it two weeks so cant comment too much on this one yet other than to say Im loving it.

Tiger was more like the BMW, big comfy and vary capable on road. More power than the BM so better for two up touring. Can be really good fun if you stiffen up the suspension, it can really grip the road and easily scrape the pegs on corners. I did 18,500 miles in 17 month of ownership and it never missed a beat. (black ones are the fastest)

The Tiger used to be the ugly duckling but nowadays the BM’s are so common you are more likely to get someone coming over to talk about the Tiger than a GS.

Re: tiger honest views

Never had an early Tiger so no help there I'm afraid. I do have an 06 955i and I think it is a great machine, my only regret is that I did not buy one years ago!

Andy.
