Finally, the next bike

Having sold my '99 AT to DRLANER, something new and different was called for. I fancied a change from dual-sports, so thought I'd try a Bonnie.

After test riding a couple Bonnies, and being on the look-out for either an '05 Aegean Blue or an '07/'08 Silver, I've finally found a bike I like and bought it.

And it's neither blue or silver!

It's an '03 Bonnie in Cardinal Red, with factory centre stand and rev counter, plus a detachable screen, with 3,650 miles on the clock when I bought it. Owned by an elderly gentleman from new, always looked after, hardly ridden as he was in his 70s - unfortunately, he passed away in December, so his widow asked a friend of their family to put it up for sale in his motorcycle repair/dealers. That's where I came in

Getting it's MOT test done

Riding it away

Only a 50 mile ride home, but it pulls quite nicely up to an indicated 85mph (officer!), smooth as silk and very comfortable. The screen does a pretty good job of keeping the wind off. Locked away in the garage now, I'll have more of a play and get some photos over the weekend

Re: Finally, the next bike

Mmmmm nice bike. Nice colour.

When I was in my 20s I lusted after a late 70s American spec bonneville with peanut tank in a deep purple colour, a Norman Hyde half race tune kit and dunstall exhausts. But, they were so unreliable, needed so much TLC, and so many vibes I decided not for me.

I will be intersted to find how you get on with this as I like the look of these as a possible replacement for my TA if it ever dies.

Re: Finally, the next bike

Stunning looking bike. I had one as a loan bike last year when the Tiger was in for service and rode 60 miles along country lanes of Wiltshire and really didn't want to get off, complete contrast to what I'm used to but loved every mile with it. Have fun.
