    National Meet - Help required

Right then boys and girls we're having a few problems getting the momentum sorted for this years event and it will be fast upon us.

I'm going to set the dates for the National as the 11/12/13 September so please get them in your diary.

However the camp site is still proving difficult and that's where I need your help.

Ideally I'd like to find a campsite in Southern Scotland that's going to take us all and with reasonable facilities.
Lord Vader and I have been asking people in the know but have struggled to find anywhere.

Red Squirrel, Glen Coe - some of the Highland section are trying it out soon (May)- can report back regards suitability, capability and "drinkability" (there is a pub at the edge of the camp site, apparently, though I've only ever ridden past it, so it's all a blur to me )

    Linky thingy I hope

Glencoe is a little further north. Not much mind you, but all on incredibly scenic & twisty roads

I have been to glencoe and it was good.Pub a short walk away. You are allowed to make a fire(Hudders)I believe they have a few stationary caravans for people which do not fancy camping
    BUT
    lots of midges thingys.
    They roads are stunning
    Now how about my Favorite

    Ullapool
Big Campsite right at a loch,no midges.Town with good pubs and B&B's.The roads up there are unbelievable.Plus you can do a Day trip to Stornaway(Ferry leaves in the morning comes back at night)
Yep i know its a bit further but if you make all this effort to go to scotland you might as well make a proper trip of it
Also i think we should make the effort as the boys from scotland even came down to Dartmoor.
We had a National in Wales, the middle of the UK and in the South.Might as well have one in the proper North
I am sure Buggles and FrancisGeoff can back me up about Ullapool, maybe even with pics
They call him "Ze Quiet one"
I listen to what the rice crispies tell me to do

what about Arran? Beautiful mountainous island, feels really remote although quite accessible. The ferry doesn't need booking but I think there's a latest crossing time of not very late, which we'd need to look into.

Not sure about campsites/pubs, but someone from scotland must know...?

Not that late in the season. Should all be well and truly killed off by the cold by then.

    Dave,

I dont know the area personally but Dumfries and Galloway is an area we all ride/ drive past !!! on the way to 'Real Scotland'

They have the Galloway Forest Park (the largest in the UK!!)

Are we still deciding / agreeing on an area? and thern try to find suitable camp site etc?

    On visit Scotland website http://guide.visitscotland.com/vs/gu...home/home.html

I have found this who accomodate groups,

Generally is it worth considering as an area?

Does have Mountains, Coastline, Historic buildings etc Oh and PUBS

Just my thoughts ........... date in my diary

How many are you thinking of?

Southern Scotland, to me, is above Glasgow / Edinburgh and below Fort William Would you agree?

The boarders are the boarders are you considering this southern Scotland?

Are the Islands in or out?

I'm with Frad, we need to narrow the selection, I will be quite happy identifying / chasing campsites in an area (once we have an area), if that is the help you are after DaveS.

    PS
Lord Vader I would love it to be Ullapool
