Yes, that's the way I would go, then up the side of Loch Ness cutting over by Beauly, a nicer drive and it misses out Inverness. The distance from Galashiels is about 280 miles/5 1/2 hours or so depending on how many fags I stop for.

Sounds good to me, loads of fag stops to give my arse a rest. Good job there are no Americans listening, fags and arse in the same sentence.

Looks like i might not know what time i'm setting off now so might just have to make my own way up as i can't give a defo on the time/route sorry guys.
874 Miles in one day...need a bit of a rest first!
No worries Craig, we will wander up in our own time taking the scenic route up through Glencoe, etc. I was up in Inverness on wednesday with a van in the course of my work and it just reminded me what a crap road the A9 is.........no corners between Edinburgh and Inverness, just boring straight bits linked with looong curves, no fun at all.

Yes, we will be leaving Galashiels sometime on Friday morning. If you are coming up that way and want some company give me a shout what time you think you will be there and we can hang about until you get there.

Hi there I will be coming from Edinburgh way, so as we will be heading up the A82 stolen map I was thinking of meeting at the Duck Bay Marina, next junction on the right just bye the Cameron House (at Balloch end of Loch Lomond for those who do not know the area) say 08:30 and that means we have pushed through Glasgow early.

Last minute bail out, sorry folks. Just bought new bike (Tiger), plus some unexpected bills have just dented the door mat. Finances needs to reallocated.
I will have to abort this weekend. Weather looks dry and fine.
