The north west posse is going to the national....

The rendezvous for the North West Posse is Southwaite Services, M6 just South of Carlisle at 8am on Thursday 10th September. Leaving at 9.00am. Anyone else travelling up on Thursday is welcome to join us here or at the following re-grouping points:

As nearly everyone will be on different fuel strategies and stopping needs suggest we plan 3 points where we regroup:

    1. There is a Little Chef and filling station on the A82 in Dumbarton about 2 miles north and west of the Erskine bridge. Little Chef on the left, fuel on the right. (120miles). ETA here about 11 to 11.15. Coffee and piss leave at 11.30

    2. The green welly stop in Tyndrum The Green Welly Stop, Tyndrum, Scotland Only about 60 miles from Dumbarton, but it looks too good to miss. ETA here about 12.45. Suggest this is lunch stop for an hour or so.

    3. Drumadrochit near Loch Ness and just before the turn off the A82 to by-pass Inverness. I was up here in May, there are a couple of roadside cafes and a filling station. ETA here about 4pm.

After Drumadrochit it is only 60 odd miles to Ullapool (ETA Ullapool 6pm), so we will probably all just travel and arrive together. This splits the route into manageable chunks and allows others to rendezvous where their route crosses.

google map links from:Southwaite Motorway Services Area, M6, Broadfield, Southwaite, Carlisle, CA4 0NT (Moto Southwaite North) to:Glasgow, G82 2TZ (Little Chef) to:tyndrum torumnadrochit, Inverness, Inverness-Shire, United Kingdom to:ullapool - Google Maps

    Very useful post Austin.

If at all possible I will leg it as soon after 8am as I can from Windermere and try to catch you at the services. Some mornings I do finish early. It all depends on the news that morning if I get a couple of company results released tot he stock market at 7am then I am usually shot as they take a while to read, digest and write as news stories.

Otherwise I'll chase you you and try to catch you up at one of the other points.

Not wishing to scupper anyones existing plans ........ but a slight change of plan for me, Wigan Chris and posibly Mr and Mrs Piguglyshandydrinker

Thoughts are to set off from the North West as soon after lunch on Wednesday as possible, meet at J27 M6 then ride as far up the M6 as we are comfortable with definately Moffat possibly somewhere around Glasgow any campsite suggestions welcome

Pitch tents chill eat and drink a 'wee dram' then sleep on Thursday morning meet up with the Posse at either The Erskine bridge pit stop or Tyndrum for lunch

Basic thought process is to get rid of the boring Motorway miles and be fresh for the best bits

Any takers to join in the 'half a week off gang'
