From rain to showers with a brief spell of midges?

In August the wife and I took a wee run up from Ullapool to Durness. It rained all the way to Durness so we decided to turn around and head back to Ullapool. Immediately the sun come out, the theory being it only rains when you are facing north.

    Re: weather

I have to ride into London first on Wednesday, then up to the lakes.

It is swelteringly hot here (muggy not that sunny), so I am inclined to come in my summer vented gear, with some easily accessible layers to put on underneath and my goretex over clothes for rain.

    Re: weather

Saw the farming forecast and it looked brilliant last night So I got out all my Africa Clothing and sleeping bag ready for the trip

Then tonight when I got home I lost my bottle a bit knowing what Scotland can be like so I am plumping for my Full Arctic gear and sleeping bag instead.

Looks like after 4 attempts though I may actually see Glencoe this time - never have done before due to the rain and fog.

    Cant wait

Give us a beep or a wave if you see an Africa Twin with white panniers on the move Thursday and Friday

    Re: weather

after seeing various forecasts I am planning that at least the first half will be nice and the other half won't be quite so nice, but probably not horrible. I also think it will be very cold at night. I am trying out a new leather jacket and jeans (if the jeans arrive in time).

    Re: weather

The other day I read the weather report and it said the sun was shining here so I went out and it was chucking it down.
Take your winter clothes to be certain of decent weather.

Clear blue skies and roasting hot sunshine here in old London town.
