Re: please,please,please......

back to beaulieu last year, managed to snap this before the rain set in.
its a combo towing a caravan and the sidecar unclips to form a little boat, including outboard.
i remember it was in one of the magazines over the last year too.

im not sure about the boat's seaworthiness (the two bags of cement in the bottom give a big hint) but the caravan was a little work of art, if youve got a ural speed isnt an issue, so why not take a double bed with you when you go on a trip?

That's just to keep the sidehack wheel somewhere near the surface.

Friend of mine keeps a few big old lead batteries in his sidecar, as ballast.

I love the little boat idea though.

That special was built by Mick at MPC: the place I went for a day's intro training to riding sidecars (that knowledge alone probably helped me avoid the hedge the first few days in the new saddle!).

I can't comment on sea-worthiness, but lake, canal and gentle river-worthiness is probably OK. Have a look here

Re: please,please,please......

I rode the 'Ural Camper' combo with sidecar boat towing the caravan from Mick`s place (MPC Ural) south of Leicester down to last year`s Beaulieu event.
Mick trailered my 2 tone combo down there with the other shop bikes.

Don`t kid yourself about perceived 'lack of speed' as other traffic was actually slowing me down.

The combo is fitted with solo gearing which dulls acceleration from standstill a bit...but the whole rig will cruise at 60-65mph all day.

You barely notice the caravan apart from having to get your cornering speed set up properly before the bend and gently powering around in order to avoid the dead weight of the caravan 'nosing' you.

It`s a bit childish to discuss how fast a bike will go,especially a bike of this type...but for your information even my 650 Ural is capable of passing and leaving an Enfield.
The 750 Ural will romp away from an Enfield completely.

didnt mean to pluck your string old boy, if you re-read my comment its actually a compliment, (change 'slow' to 'not a fireblade but can easily keep up with traffic and be a fun, sprightly ride', theres too many different ideas of 'fast/slow' these days)
for the style/set up of the bike a 500 enfield has perfectly good performance, and if a ural goes even better than power to the people!

i would never expect bikes like these, or deride them for not having, a modern bikes performance. except perhaps an 883 sportster, but does that class as modern?
