3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.
1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
These are of our resident Ural Stunt Monkey, Tarka at the Beaulieu Show last year with his Ural combo

what are combo's like to ride(drive?)look like fun to me. if i had one my 89 year old mum would HAVE to go out in it i just know she would!
Okay..here we go.
Here`s my 650cc Ural combo....
It`s a year 2000 model...built after the factory revamp over the Winter of 1999 and to much higher standards than the older ones.
I bought this as a sadly neglected non runner with all tyres shot and the whole thing covered in slime and cobwebs.
Since bringing it back to life it`s been in almost daily use for the last two years.
Here`s another couple of pics.
(She`s called 'Skaya' by the way)
And here`s my 'posh' 750cc Ural combo.
This is a year 2004 model, bought as a non runner with only 860km on it!!
The owner had moved house and the warranty had expired...and they knew nothing about bikes.
I bought it a year ago for £2200.
Checked it over...found a bent exhaust valve and fixed it for £20.
It`s now worth £3500,heh heh.
She`s called 'Dee'.
Used for 'nice' rallies and B&B weekends whereas Skaya goes to dirty and rough events
(Oh...and also for stunting...heh heh)

Ural combos are fun at any time...but they really come into their own in Winter...and especially in frost and snow.
Here`s Skaya at the Dragon Rally.
Eagle eyed readers will observe that I`ve fitted a Dnepr leading link front end to Skaya since the earlier pics(she was a rare 'Roustabout' model fitted with telescopic forks originally, but leading links are far better on a combo).
It was a tad cold....
Gawd...I like cold weather but it was painful even to breathe![]()
Snow brings even more fun !!
I used ten quid`s worth of petrol and didn`t go more than five miles from home...just hooned around the lanes for the morning
Go on....you know you want one !!
![]()
I do want one and you know it cause i'm always annoying you to get you to sell me one. Are either of yours TWD?
My wife thinks i'm mad, but one of these days i will get one. I suppose i should put some money aside just in the of chance that one comes along some day.
No mate.
As you can see,BOTH (there I go again) of MINE (
) are UK sided...ie left hand chair...and you can only have 2WD on Continental sided ones due to the shaft and bevel box being on the right.
Incidentally, you don`t need 2WD for anything other than very extreme trials type offroading, despite what some of the Merkins may say on AdvRider.
I did an off road day on Skaya with road tyres and with only rear wheel drive...and had no trouble at all.
The only guy to have difficulties was on a 2WD combo....they try to go straight in 2WD and end up 'crabbing' due to the asymmetrical wheel plan.
Here you go!
