Idle Speed Adjustment

My Vara seems to be ticking over a bit too fast for my liking at the mo. I've not used the idle speed adjuster doobry before, but on having a little go at turning the thumbscrew it doesn't seem to want to go. I don't want to force it and break something!

Is there a nack to this that I'm not aware of? Or has it just come off at the other end!

sounds like it is a bit seized Rob, difficult to break it keep moving it until it gives.

My idle is set at 1000 which seems fine manual says 1200

Re: Idle Speed Adjustment

I have just upgrade an 02 to an 08 and the new one idles around 1500.
I am not used to this and keep thinking something is wrong.
I have not found a nice adjuster knob as my Carb model had. I kept the idle low on the 02 to just under 1000 rpm.

Is there any adjustment for idle on the FI models?

I have read a few posts here and it seems that Honda has upped the idle speed a bit. However I still think 1500 is a bit too high.

Just follow the link. If it is direct onto the carbs it may need WD40 if it is remote using a piece of rubber hose it will most probably have stuck WD40 should clear it up.

FI models are controlled by the ECU Idle is set high because it has to burn more fuel to meet the emissions regs.
