You know how nothing ever goes wrong?

    Well...I may have a "problem"!

Particularly cold morning this morning, bike fired up as normal with the choke and I made my way to work, a fastish ride of 20 minutes or so.

I kept thinking I could hear the top box clattering a little bit as I approached roundabouts and stuff, then 3/4 of my way through the journey I realised the bike was giving little misfires.

The last couple of miles this got a bit worse and the power seemed to be down slightly and the engine noise up slightly.

Wondering now if the Vara's suffer the same sticky choke as the AT's or whether it's something else. I'm not very technical, dont have a lot of knowledge when things go a bit tits up!

Any ideas? Seemed to be running absolutely fine on Friday evening when I last used it, in fact it was running great.

    Aren't most Varas fuel injected?
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

That is bad luck. Shame that V's have to have a remote carb/choke wossname. At least with across the frame 4s twins and singles you can just have a hand operated plunger straight into the carb.

Hmmm, just been out for a quick test ride at lunch. 12 miles and no problems at all.

Gave the choke lever a good wiggle a few times on and off before I fired her up. Wonder if that's it then? Might explain my fuel consumption being a little higher than Shep's too. Or would it be this legendary "Carb Icing" that I keep hearing about? I dont really know what that is.

Looks like some fettling is in store for the New Year then! Who's our resident choke and carb Guru then?

If you cant keep it serious I suggeest you go to the "Chatter" forum, you know I cant do with humour and idle banter in this most serious of sites.

Ahem...well, same problem again this morning. Weird that it's just been these last 2 really cold days that it's happened. Thinking about it though, the last few weeks or even a couple of months maybe there's been an occasional misfire literally just as I hit the start button in the morning...so wonder if my plugs are shot or something (he said hopefully!).

I've got a set of Iridium plugs sitting at home waiting to go in, but I'm such a spannerphobe it scares me! I can see where the front one goes but I haven't even spotted the back one yet! Why cant they be nice and accessible like (dare I say it) a Beemer!
