Here goes. Seeing that I've been asked a couple of times what I'm planning to do with my Vara in order to make it look less like an old man's bike, here it is!
You must all remember the old @ colour scheme, right?.
Well, I'm planning on keeping to the spirit of the concept, but rather I'm going to have it done properly with realistic looking flames like on the Hellboy cruiser fuel tank below.
The primary colour will be a pearl black with the flames in approx the same places as was done on the old @s, whilst at the same time working with some of the unique Vara design features. The name "Varadero" will be in the same place as it is now, but rather done in black gothic lettering, and the name "XLV-1000i" will be done in the same black gothic underneath the Varadero lettering only in a smaller scale.
The headlight bulbs will be replaced with newly developed road legal orange bulbs. The screen will be replaced with a new blacked out Powerbronze windscreen. The handlebars will be replaced with a set of metallic red Renthals with heated grips. All the fairing bolts will be replaced with metallic red Probolts. The mirrors are going to be replaced with Motrax Indy mirrors with built in indicators. I'm going to add a hugger for the back wheel. SatNav will be fitted. Handlebar ends will be replaced with metallic red Oxfords. Wheels will be resprayed black for the rims and metallic red for the spokes. The seat's going to be replaced most probably with a specially coloured Baglux seat (black with red trim).
Mechanically I'm going to derestrict the bike to Firestorm standard, add a Power Commander unit and replace the exhausts with a set of road legal titanium Akrapovics. I might also beef up the suspension as well.
Of course they'll be a few other things that'll be added along the way, but that's the bulk of it as things now stand.
