    Buses

Ride magazine's review of the Triumph Tiger refers to Varaderos as "big old buses" (page 75, issue just out)

Well, I'm not too sure on the outrunning bit, there's not a lot in it. I've owned both and wouldn't like to say which would be faster.

Sounds like a plan for the summer, just need to find someone up here with a Varadero!

Most jounalists seem to get into a mental rut. They'll do a comparative review of sports tourers and th VFR will come in third, then for the next eleven months they'll refer to the VFR as the class leader! Even if they did a fair review of the Varadero, the next month they'd revert to type and call it a bus. Go figure. Maybe they don't read their own magazine!

(I have no idea if the Tiger - old or new version - is "better" than the Varadero, but it's distincly inaccurate to call the Vara a bus.)

    Hi All
Its my first post here, I have an 06 vara had it since last july and just coming up 6k. I used to buy the bike mags regularly but gradually got fed up with the 'ducati, r1, ducati, gixer, blade, wheelie, ducati,' content of most of them. One of the problems I had when deciding whether to go for the vara was all the outdated road tests, almost everyone described it as a gas guzzling, non handling dinosaur. What I couldnt work out is that I had test rode it and it was an absolutely brilliant ride. In the end decided they were all full of sh*t and went with my own instincts I dont think I've ever looked forward to riding any of my bikes as much and especially at this time of year. I dont have a problem with anyone who wants to ride a sportsbike (I've had enough of them myself) but I dont appreciate being treated like an old fart just because a glossy magazine thinks it knows better than me.
There now I've gone and introduced myself with a bloody rant, honest I'm a happy go lucky sort of bloke really!!

Never a true'er word. Bollocks to everything that's printed... as long as does what you want it to do that's the main thing.
Look forward to catching up with you at some point.

Me thinks we need a SW rideout soon as its been about a year since the last one.
