    Modified Number Plate Holder?

Anyone know how the owner of this Varadero modified his number plate holder/mudguard?

Looks like he's removed the Number plate light and chopped the plate holder off and just moved the whole lot up to me. There are some aftermarket LED light units on (European) Ebay with a built in strip along the bottom to illuminate the number plate. £40ish I think.

You mean he's chopped the whole thing off from under the back light and replaced it with one of those sportsbike frame holders you can get? And can you get those LEDs from anywhere other than Ebay (M&P, MPS etc.)? Who makes 'em?

    Hey thats my bike ...lol

It's a simple mod although I did buy a used rear guard from eblag to chop up. If you look under the mudguard theres a solid moulding just under where the No plate lamp wiring goes through to under the seat, I cut it off at that point, remove the No plate lamp which then gives you a couple of threaded holes to mount 2 angled aluminium brackets to which you can then mount the plate, since that pic I have added an LED No plate lamp to stay legal. I did this purely for the look and it doesn't appear to cause anymore mess up the back of the bike in the wet, also biking buddies don't report anymore spray off the road.If you need more info I'll gladly take some more pictures and mail them on.

Please, if you could send me all the details on the mod that you can I'll be very grateful. Even better, why not post the details and pics here?

    Hi V twin,

What size plate did you use there doesn't seem to be room between the cans on my bike for a standard plate.

Hi timbo, yes the plate is smaller, I think it's 8" x 6" as opposed to a standard 9" x 7" not a massive differance so still legal looking.
