    Having ordered my new bike...

    Guys

Have successfully negotiated the purchase of a new Vara. (non ABS) which I shall take delivery of in early January. As eluded to in my earlier email I PX'd both my CBR1000F and AT. Dont think I did too bad.

Anyway got to start planning what to get it kitted out with!

It is coming with Panniers, Top Box, Heated Grips, Centre Stand and a Touring Scotoiler but I've heard engine bars are a must due to the potential for damage to the radiators. I mentioned this to the dealer and he said I ought to look at them first inferring that they are pug ugly - any comments?

Also I need a SatNav mount for a Garmin 2610, anyone out there got any tips on what mount, where best to fit it etc etc.

What else does anyone recommend as necessary for instance an aftermarket screen being 6'3" or is the standard affair adequate?

    All comments appreciated. Cheers

    Dave

    Congratulations on your wise purchase.

Engine bars - go for Givi try Busters quote Varadero forum for discount. As for them being ugly, they look better than broken fairings and empty wallets.

Screen - MRA Vario try HPS

I assume you have the 2610 already. I had the touratech lockable mount on mine pricey but very good fixed to the crossbar (optional extra) but RAM do very good ball and socket mounts to mount anywhere on the bars.

    Hi Mr Niceguy

    Thanks for the tips.

I know the touratech mount - I have one mounted to the clutch master cylinder on my GL1800 - I had forgotten that it came with the handlebar clamps.

If you mount this on the 'crossbar' does it obscure the speedo etc. Anyone got any piccies they can post?

Doesn't obstruct the clocks but it can be a bit fiddly getting the keys in the ignition. For photos have a look in my gallery.
