What came first the dero or the strom

OK guys little help here on this side of the pond. Canada will have the 1,000 dero for 2008 and a lot of people are saying looks like Honda stole the style from Suzuki! So before I jump in and say the dero is the evolution of the Transalp via the Africa twin whats your take on this?

The XL1000V Varadero was introduced in 1999, fueled via carburettor, and from 2003 fueled via the PGM-FI programmed fuel injection system

It was not an evolution or even replacement for the Transalp/Africa Twin - but an addition to the model range of a 'Big' Tourer.



The Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom was released in 'Yurrup' in 2002, followed by it's smaller sibling the DL650 V-Strom in 2004.

I suppose V-strom "referenced" the Yamaha TDM 900 (not being sold in America), if you compare the two bikes you would see they look very similar, but TDM has its roots set back at early 90's.

i'll second that opinion, i bought my varadero new in september, my neighbour has a strom only 4mths older, and now it looks like its been in a salt dip for two years! mine still looks.....well you dont need telling, its a varadero 'innit
