With all the crap I have added to my bike it is now time to think of lightening the load. How much lighter are the Quill Cans compared to the standard? Can anyone recommend any cheaper Cans? Releasing that lovely sound from the engine for all to hear would be nice, but I don’t want to end up with a head ache if I have to do a few hundred miles sat on a motorway. Weight saving is what I am really after.![]()
don't know exactly how much lighter but the standard cans and link pipe are bloomin' heavy - say 5kg per side. Quill cans probably about 2kg. So save 6kg approx. I might be wrong but the weight difference is significant.
I paid £390 incl vat, fitting, and a dyno run. Which I thought was ok especially platinum-catalyzed glass fiber compared to akra's, Leo vince, and others. Quill do 10% discount for XRV too and their fitting service is excellent. Nice guys too.
Happy to meet you somewhere if you want a look & listen

Might get centre stand and MRA screen, wait and see the side stand has me worried as flat ground around where I live is a rarity... As for the screen have not ridden the bike enough to know if I will need one as I ride from April till November and rarely go over 120KMH...
Irish roads....
the centre stand is well worth it, dont know about the aftermarket brands but the honda one is good quality and well designed for an easyish lift. also allows you to get an extra 1.5ltrs of fuel in the tank when you need to.
not sure about the screen, ive found the standard one to be fine on the high setting, im 6'2". could do with a bit wider perhaps? but it would have to be shaped, or the handguards would hit it on full lock.
I have heard of after market centre stands collapsing (maybe if the owner has tried to spin the bike around; which I have seen people do.) so I opted for the Honda centre stand. The standard screen is great; but I think the MRA screen is quieter and gives better protection. You can stand up to stretch your legs above 80mph no problem and I only close my visor if I break 100mph (in Germany of course). The only down side of the MRA tinted screen is that when you are off road negotiating rough ground; at night or in dark shade it can be hard to see clearly what is directly in front of you.
