I was planning to get a tank protector, but how east to fit it ? does it need side panels to be taken off ?

"does it need side panels to be taken off ?"
On the Transalp, definatly not. On the Vara, you just need to remove the two screws that go into the tank (one either side) so that you can pull the fairing back a little bit and slide the cover underneath and into position.
Hope that helped.

The Vara is the same as Raven said for the TA.![]()
Had a look at Bagster's website, they do 2 kinds of tank protectors for vara.
First one is the traditional one, which is not shiny and not colour matched
The second one is gloss and colour match, looks good but wonder if the painted surface would crack as time goes.
The gloss ones look a bit tacky to me and the standard ones are fine.
I fitted my Baglux harness a few weeks ago and it was a little bit 'fiddly' but the fit and finish is suberb.
The fiddly bits are a) lining up all the holes, b) locating the straps to the front of the fuel tank under the vertical trim pieces of the fairing and c) knowing where to fit the front straps that go down behind the steering head. There is an obvious location but one side is cluttered with cables/pipes and not the easiest to get to!
Of course it didnt help that I was fitting the harness cold which makes the whole thing unwieldy.
Someone told me that putting the cover in the tumble dryer softens it up to make it easier to fit. It worked!
