    Re: Chain Lubrication

I've manually lubed mine every couple of weeks with a small brush and EP90 and I have just adjusted the chain for the first time at 9500 miles as the slack had increased by around 5mm and I was looking for something to do.

Actually this is not quite true being the first adjustment as I had to slacken it when first delivered as the main dealer had it set on the tight side.

    Re: Chain Lubrication

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for all the input.

I've decided to give the bike shop one last go at it as the bike is near due its 4k service already! I went in on Saturday and had a whinge at them and they said they'll have another go at it.

I agree that the scottoiler is a good product and I've had trouble free service from this sytstem on several bikes before but I still like the sound of the Acumen unit!

    Regards
    Dave

ive just fitted a pro-oiler to my africa twin,£140 bit pricey but looks the part.comes with a cool looking controller that sticks to my dash and has a red led display!took best part of a day to fit and set it up(has to be programmed)but seems to work well.will test it out in a few weeks from now with a couple thousand miles in europe.also fitted new chain/sprockets so will see how long they last.......

Major difference is that scottoiler is based on vacuum, when pro-oiler's operation is based on the speedo's signal.
The impulse is taken out easily from the speedsensor (on/off-pulse) over the gearbox.

We pay about 120 or 130 euros... and I don't know if they are sold in the UK at all... but perhaps we can arrange something if you'd like one? I wouoldn't mind helping you out.

I find a 'whinge' every now and then is very therapeutic!

In this case it 'got it off my chest', got them to agree to look at it again, and shamed them into not charging me for my new number plate (finally got round to putting my go faster plate on!)
