Battery Charger

Hi Every body,

Well i got my Alpos boxes for my 30th

just awating the touratech pucks will post some pickies tonight


Okay anywho

not used the bike for about 4 days over the weekend, and 3 days the weekend before, and oh yes the bike will not start battery was kind of dead,
Tried to charge it up with the charger i have, all the lights came on after a nights charging to say charged, put it on the bike and nothing ?? did i not charge the battery long enough ??
still the same all the lights and dash come on,, but it just goes click when i push the button,,
going to get it tested this afternoon..

one one point should i buy a optimate and try charging the battery with this before buying a new battery ??? or using the one i have try it for longer, there is no auto cut off

or could i have killed the battery with the other charger (its some cheap trickle chager from argos i bought for the car)

and going forward, what other chargers should i look at, as there is a plug on the bike attatched to the battery, which it looks like the last owner had a charger attatched to,,, always wondered what that wire was for.....


Help me Please

10:30 okay update,, i have killed the battery on the car charger ooopss,,so new battery here we come...

will i be okay using this charger ???

I had the same problem, ended up having to jump start the bike of the car. Ended up getting the Oxford's version of Optimate and never had a problem again. For the cost of them and peace of mind then get one anyway if doesn't cure it then at least it will look after the new battery.

thats what i was looking for,

just been and bought one now from Hg,,, get the new battery on thursday from the local place i use...

oh and also bought some hand guards

2nd that, i use an oxford optimate type battery conditioner thing on my supermoto that sits in the garage for months at a time, the battery is at least 7yrs old and its still ok.

batteries generally dont last more than a few tears so yours is due a new one anyway, its exhibiting all the symptoms. if youve got lots of accessories (varadero has a monster alternator, but other bikes might need this) or need a bigger starting crank then odyssey dry cell batteries are guaranteed for 8/10yrs and well recommended, if expensive. they do claim to be fairly indestructable, deep discharge damage proof and recoverable, things to consider if your planning a big trip or leave your heated grips on all day?
