    Front wheel problem..

I just had a new front tyre fitted.

I found that the spacing between the tyre and the front fender is not equal on each side. The tip of the front fender is not pointing to the centre line of the tyre.

The spacing is tighter on the right hand side as I stand in front of the bike facing the headlight.

Is it normal? or it needs checking out?

Have you got the spacers on the right way round. The spacers are 2 different sizes

The front wheel turns freely, what I can hear is just a bit of the usual disc sound.

I have checked the spacing along the whole length of the front fender. The left side spacing (clutch lever side of the fork) between the front fender and the font tyre is surely a bit narrower then the other side.

The front fender tip is not too far off the tyre centre line but look closely I can see it.

As you said the front wheel spacers are not of the same size, does it mean the fornt wheel is closers to one of the fork legs?

Just forgot to say mine is a 05 ABS 1000

Silly question but are sure the tyre has been fitted correctly. If not take it off, let the air out, roll the wheel along pushing down firmly on the ground. If the bead still isn't seating correctly inflate slighty and bounce the wheel on the ground going all around the wheel until it does.

The tyre was fitted by the dealer who carried out the 8k service about 3 weeks ago. The bike has done another 1k miles since then, how can I tell if it hasnt been fitted correctly?

The bead should be seated evenly all around the tyre on both sides idealy with no bead visible. If it's not seated then the wheel would be centred but the tyre off, probably not notice it much on the bike when the wheel has been balanced.

My front wheel does NOT have any balance weights. After I read yr reply, I checked the front wheel b4 i left work, the tyre looks ok but will have a 2nd look tmr when it is brighter.

    Re: Front wheel problem..

Just an update with some pictures showing the front fender and front tyre on mine. The gap between the tyre and front fender is tight on the right side (clutch lever side) than the right hand side as you facing the bike.

It also looks like to me the centre line of the front fender is pointing slight to the left of the front tyre centre line, again when you are facing the bike.

Guys, can you help me by going into your garage and check out if it is the same on yours?
Ideally, if you can put your through to feel the gaps as well as checking out the centre line issue.

    Here are some pictures:

I just don't know how it happend then, coz I have dropped it. Is it more likely that the fender or the front wheel is out of alignment ?
