    Vadadero XL125V year 2008

    Good afternoon,
This is all new to me but i have a couple of questions to ask about my bike.
I,ve just noticed that the oil has gone milky when looking through the oil inspection class on the side of the engine.
I did read some where on the site that it's condersation? Is there anything i can do.
I do keep the bike outside covered up when not in use. I only use the bike for work through summer and winter.

The second question is, i did replace the exhaust with a stanless one, it looks better and sounds much better that the original one, but there is a small leak where it joins the original exhaust - is there anyting i can use to seal the exhaust which will not damage it.
    If any one can help.
    Thanks Pauluppy

    Welcome to the forum,
The best way to seal the exhaust joint is with a bandage. wrap it around the joint before you tighten it, or use spacers.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

On most bikes and deffo my TA and my Varadero 1000 there is a special flexible seal for the linkpipe/silencer to header pipe joint. It possibly could be patched up with exhaust bandage but I think the proper part is only a couple of quid from David Silver's. Some gun gum might do it too if you wanted a real bodge job. My TA's joint leaks like mad but does make a nice burbly popping noise on overrun

Milky oil, worst case is a leaking head gasket (125's are water cooled aren't they?) but seems unlikley as I have never heard of the problem before, but like you I have seen posts here and elsewhere about condensation on the sight glass of the 125's casings.

Is it just the oil on the sight glass that looks milky or is it all the oil, ie is the oil on the dipstick milky too?(if so I would change the oil pronto). What happens after a long run and the engine and oil has managed to get good and hot? Has the condensation gone away?

    Sorry, can't be more help.

If you only do short journeys, then the milkyness will be caused by the engine not getting hot enough for long enough to drive out the moisture from the oil.

If a good long ride does not improve the situation, then I would change the oil and keep an eye on it.

Short journeys - NOT good for engines!

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
