I'm planning a 14 day tour of Norway in June. This is going to be two-up with luggage. I don,t think my @ is ideal for this, would love a Vara for the trip. How about bike hire? Anyone know of any bike hirers?

unless your planning on taking half the house with you the @ will be fine for your trip
the vara's a great mile muncher with excellent performance/fuel economy
but i found it a bit on the heavy side when i took one to the national last year
found most bike hire companies i've heard about were based in and around london and what ever you hire won't be cheap ?
check out the classifieds in MCN there are usualy some advertised in there
others will be along shortly to tell you to use your @....

Problem with the @ it's a great ride solo but a Vara is so comfy two-up. I've searched round the net and found a company doing V strom 1000 for about £800 for 14 days!!! Just rang about a '99 Vara for under 2k hope to see it tomorrow. Thought now is to buy the Vara use it for the trip then sell it after. Or just keep it if the missus likes the comfort. But no way is the @ going!
Bike hire is seldom cheap. Buying might not be a bad idea!

Honda Germany have a hire programme you can hire all models starting with smallest cheapest at €29 a day I'll find out a bit more
You would still have to take out an extra insurance but I'll ask if it is possible to take them out of the country
Right found it
Not cheap and I'm not sure if its open to non residents but some prices to think about
Personally I would have a look to buy and resell you are not going to loose £800 in depreciation and you wont have the worries about

Thanks for all the input guys. The decision is made. I am now looking for a Vara in the £2000-2500 range. This has been sanctioned by my financial advisorwho has agreed to release the funds. No rush to make the purchase but best to find one quick before a carpet wears out etc.
She has also expressed an interest in learning to ride and thinks the @ will make an ideal mount! (over my cold corpse). So now it seems a 125 is needed. Gonna need a bigger shed it seems.
Can't believe hire prices, makes no economical sense to pay nearly a grand to hire when you look at current used prices.
