Unhappy HELP!!! VARADERO 125 clutch mystery

    Help

Have just swapped the engine in my vara for a rebuilt one.

Reason fro swapping was a low rummbling sound , anyway new engine sounds the same !!!!.

listened to another vara down the street and that sounds the same, so didnt have to swap lol, so anyone want to buy an engine

Anyway the clutch, the engine i put in was complete and was suppose to have a fairly new clutch in it.

so put engine in along with new clutch cable, oil, filter, etc

engine runs , but when you put it into gear it just lurches and stalls, even with the clutch lever right to the bar, have tried adjusting the cable up down etc, but no diffence, so i thought i would put the clutch of my old engine on the new engine, swapped it over and it was fine for a couple of minutes , then started to do it again , ie runs fine in neautral, pull the clutch in put it into gear and it lurches andstalls no matter how high the revs are.

I think i put the clutch on correctly, only thing i could thin of was the plates are in the wrong notches in the basket, do they all go in the same notch, or do one or two, go in the other notches ,

Am competent on the spanners, but in all my years never came across this one

Help any advice would be greatly recieved

Wurzel, ps this is my first post

Have you made sure it's not just the clutch lever or sidestand switches playing up or not connected properly? Try bypassing them to see if the problem goes away.

Why not subscribe the modest amount of £10.00 and list your engine in the for sale section of the forums Its cheap advertising and will get you some cash back...........I'm sorry can't really offer advice on the clutch as I've never done one.....but as yen said they are two areas that really need checking first

    OK...

    With the bike NOT RUNNING......

Put the bike in first gear and then pull in the clutch.. Can you push the bike forward and backwards without dragging the back wheel ???

If not, your clutch is not dissengaging properly. You have either balls up a little on the assembley or there is something more drastically wrong..

    Post back..

Re: HELP!!! VARADERO 125 clutch mystery

hi, i have exactly the same problem!! same bike!!!
as you say with the engine running when you put it in gear it lurches forward and stalls, its also a right sod to get into neutral when running. i am presuming i have not used the correct oil.... or one that is not suited for wet clutches (if there is such a thing). the reason why i think this is because i have rebuilt the bike (not engine) and changed the oil and filter as part of the service and only since i have done that it has been a problem.
i am going to drop the oil again at the weekend and put 'motorbike oil' in and see what happens!!
    will keep you posted

ok just seen how old this post is.... ha ha ha does anyone know the outcome?

Re: HELP!!! VARADERO 125 clutch mystery

    been there done that.
yep car oil does not work. when i did it the oil burnt onto the clutch plates so a quick oil change endded up costing more oil and new friction plates.
if you have used an ordinary car engine oil it will not work with a wet clutch only use a mtorbike oil of the corect grade.

hopefully if you have not run yours too much just changing the oil may work.
