    Luggage?

Hi all, well Honda are giving me a new Top box and heated grips with my new Vara next week, did I mention I'd bought a new Vara?

Ok, I can't put luggage into my heated grips and a top box isn't enough for two touring for a fortnight. So, to my question, which luggage?

Now remember, I am Scottish, also a peasant! So I have a budget to keep to!

I'm not interested in soft luggage, I watched a mate's go on fire, destroying his brand new trainers on the back of a Firestorm once, laugh? Me? Good god! I thought I was going to fall off my bike! I couldn't see for tears!

I've used Honda brand luggage on one of my @T's, also used Nonfango for yrs, last 3yrs have been Triumph branded on the Tiger. I need a couple of boxes for the new Vara, suggestions folks?

Cheers mate, £102 for the fitting kit plus the boxes, at least it gives me a price to work on.

    Bought mine off here:

    http://www.motorbikesandparts.co.uk/...e97aa097c5da43

I already had a 45 litre topbox, that takes everything I need for at least a week if not more, so I got the kappa rack and a pair of 21 litre sidecases, £175 for the lot. (And I can still filter through most traffic situations). Two days into last trip to France I was hiring out space in it to my fireblade and duc999 companions.

    here ya go phil;
21 litres mightn't sound much compared to most cases, but you can get more in them than you'd think, a 24 pack of bud fits quite easily!

As far as I know the givi monokey cases fit the kappa monokey racks well, I always thought they were the same firm, and when they were delivered the kappa cases were in a givi bag.

Kappa boxes are made in the same factory as the Givi, I think the founder of Kappa is the daughter of the owner of Givi or something like that, so yes, they will fit on a monokey rack. I've got the keyless givi panniers (can't remember the product code) and one box can hold more stuff than both of the panniers I got with my sprint st 1050, also once you've got them you can transfer them to any future bike you buy, all you've got to do buy is a new rack to fit your new bike. They may be quite dear to buy in the first place but they are a worth while investment which will save you money in the long run

    Cheers Pete
Thats just what i needed to see they look more than big enough and the price is great, the wife and my self did 5 days last summer with a 45lt top box, tank bag and soft panniers neuther the tank bag or the panniers were full and both had more than enough(even with her hair dryer) SO!!! it looks like they,re the kit for me no more weather worries and locked i always thought the bigger boxes look over sized for me anyway! travel light I,M HERE FOR A GOOD TIME NOT A LONG TIME

    Re: Luggage?

I'm not sure about the 21L boxes, 2 weeks touring takes quite a bit of gear, I know I struggle with the Tiger box, it has a cut out for the exhaust and takes away about a 3rd of the box. (I give Fiona the left one as it's bigger!)
I was offered a Yamaha XJ900 with a full set of Nonfango luggage for £400 today, I was tempted to buy it, keep the luggage and punt on the bike! Ho hum, I'll have a think about it.

    Re: Luggage?

My VD is an ex-demo and came with the full set of Honda badged hard cases. Obviously it's just Givi kit in a smart suit but the panniers fit in closely around the bike so that the fully loaded width is minimised. It's still wide but it's not 'kin wide
