    Tank bags for 2008 Varadero

    Can someone share their feed back on tank bags used on the Varadero. I love a tank bag and I'm used to having a BMW tank bags when I had BMW models. I know it's a matter of preference like saddle bags and other accessories but any any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks.

    for adventure bikes hein gericke do three i think, two tuareg and a prosports (i think they are both their own brands).
    i have the tuareg special bag, £41, very well made, i think its pretty good with some reservations;
    too many small useless pockets, some you cant even get your hand in, id rather just have a big bag with a map window in the top.
    zip overload, each compartment has two zips, why?
    map pocket has inner pockets inside for cellphone, pens etc. if you put you gps in there it falls in instead of being held flat.
    its magnetic (magnets are strong) but comes with securing straps which they rec you use, but the straps dont reach anywhere on the varadero and if you do you cant get to the fuel filler easily. you can take off the side straps but not the front one so its flapping about, annoying.

    i think i would have been better off with the tuareg enduro medium, but for the same money i went for the bigger one. the prosport was £60 and is exactly the same as the tuareg one i got.

    another option is baglux or bagster but it does work out a lot more you are looking at about £90 for the cover plus the cost of the bag you get. It does look good though I have a 2004 vara and all my friends reckon it looks better with the cover.

    i had a baglux on my sprint ST, be very careful and wash it underneath occasionally. i dont know if it was because it had plastic tank and it was maybe a bit softer than steel, but after 2 yrs i took it off and i had no paint on the tank! where rain has a tiny bit of dirt in it, added to road muck, it had gradually worn it off. had to get the tank resprayed.

    Baglux is the dogs thingy. I've got ane and it looks just dandy. Do remove the cover a couple of times a year and clean the underside cos road dirt has to get in.

    Positives: easy to fit and then remove such as on ferries, motorway services, and to fill up with petrol etc, doesn't slip about (mine doesn't anyway).

    Negatives: very slight marks on tank where there must've been dirt under the magnets, but who cares - bikes are for using.

    Personally I think the positives of a magnetic bag far outweight any possible advantages of the bags that strap onto the eyesores that are tank covers.

    But that's just my opinion!

    my HG is magnetic, i dont use it all the time but it hasnt marked the tank.

    ive always been careful getting it on and off, placing it and lifting it straight off. if you just grab it and slide it off you are bound to scratch something.
