    Barkbuster Handguards

After spending ages trying to work out which gs type handguards I could fit onto the Varadero, whether I needed bar raisers or not, would it foul the sat nav leads etc, my problem has now been

Barkbusters have finally released bike specific ones for early model Vara's.

That's another few quid disappearing from this months pay packet!

Just to follow this up - I was in touch with Barkbusters direct and they were confident that the early model Vara kit would fit an 09 bike and having fitted them I can confirm that they do. I think BB are updating their site to reflect this.

hmmmmm, they would be a lot better without "barkbuster" written on them in big letters. Is it just a sticker?

Hi Austin - no it's not a sticker - it's embossed onto the surface.

How about the SW Motech's? I'm sure they'd fit and look bold in black
    metal too.

Strangley no image on the SWM de site anymore but the pdf fitting guide shows it clearly.

Site address but no images here, it doesnt seem to be available from any UK based disty or online shop.

Just realised that the SW Motech guards are actully the Barkbuster Storm Guards with a sticker on them. Storm Guards are NON model specific which relates more to the shape of the wind deflector but on some models to the attachment/fitting kit difference.

    Re: Barkbuster Handguards

I quite like the lettering, though I suppose it could be accused of being a bit designer-label-ish. There's a bit of jiggery pokery to get everything to line up. They come with their own bar-end weights and internals, so you are supposed to remove the internals of the old bar-end weights. In practice getting the old ones out can be tricky.

Mine just touch the fairing on full left lock, but that hasn't left a mark there yet. Depending on what furniture you have on the handlebars (sat nav etc.) you might be able to avoid this.
