    What he said.

The days when sprockets outlasted the chain seem to be long gone.

Whilst on this subject i have noticed my chain has got a bit stiff and my front spocket has angled teeth?!
Do you need to take the swinging arm off to change the chain or do they come with a joining link?

no need to touch swing arm. chain should have split link ( linking pin will need to have ends peaned ( hammered) over AFTER link plate is put on first. angled sprocket teeth? is chain adjusted too tight? make sure new chain is adjusted to manual specs........in time severe damage to output shaft can occur needing total motor strip down !!!!!! cheers ade. keep new chain well lubed too

i know never seen one worn like it, dont think its too tight as i dont like to over tension them. i have only done a couple of thousand miles on it since ive had it.Its in bits at the moment preparing for some long trips so i will just get a new set. O ring or X ring? does it REALLY matter? What does anyone else use?

what does the rear sprocket look like? is there any play in front sprocket shaft ? only asking as very little incorrect chain tension can quickly chew up both chain and sprockets in a very short time my ta has an o ring fitted. no doubt everyone will have their own preferences as to x or o ring........check out garage night tv ( theres a thread//link on here somewhere all about chain / sprocket replacement and explains differences if any on rings........very good info. good luck ade ps does your bike have an auto oil system eg scottoiler?

I go for X ring every time, much cheapness from "Stealth Products"

I usually buy X ring and as dear as I can find, no point skimping on chain and sprockets, also agree ALWAYS change chain and sprockets due to wear. Bad news is the last D.I.D chain I bought was an X ring and made of elastic! Needed adjusting weekly and was all over in a matter of months!

Honda OE chains are remarkably good value these days. You can pick one up complete with OE sprockets for under £100
