    More questions Vara 1000

Whats the chances of a main stand popping up on Ebay...am I wasting my time and should I go straight to the likes of David Silver spares or a pattern?

Secondly does anyone know who is the cheapest for Givi engine bars at the moment (2005 Abs) New or secondhand considered!

    Thanks Again.

They seem to pop up more frequently on ebay.de but be careful of shipping costs.

Possibly with the current pound/euro rate it'd be just as cheap buying in the UK, but it's worth a look.

I bought mine in Germany when I was over there, and it was lots cheaper than the UK prices, but I think the exchange rate was about one euro forty to the pound.

The exchange rate has scuppered many a bargain, it works the other way round now
keep an eye on ebay.de they do come up every now and then but if there is a problem it works out far more than buying local

Very true indeed. I advertised a now redundant tractor yesterday in a UK online/printed trade mag and had 3 European trade buyers on the phone within 2 hrs. Sold it for £21.5K and I am chuffed as I was offered £20.5k last September here by a dealer!! Strong Euro is great for exporting, not so wunnerful buying spares and machinery

Of course, I now think I sold it too cheap....

Recommend going for Hepco & Becker stand as opposed to the SW Motech one, much better lever and pads makes it a whole lot easier to lift, I've tried both.

The Givi one is not recommended at all, couple of guys here have had them break after a couple of years, H & B and SW M, no reports of any breakages.

    Re: More questions Vara 1000

I've got the SW Motech stand
well built with no issues (yet)
springs are a real B'stard to fit and it is not that easy to lift the bike onto the stand, they do have a handle on stock but it's a waste of time and of no use at all, easiest lift is with the pannier rack or passenger handles.

A word of warning with second hand make sure all the bolts are there, SW Motech new stands are shipped with replacement bolts and I havn't a clue where I put the originals
