    mine splutters quite randomly.
I'm still getting to grips with the manual choke.
When to push it in etc...
I can see there is an adjustment for the choke.
Would it be best to wait 'till the engine is warm then adjust the screw to get about 1200rpm?

yes, get the engine warm and then turn up the idle to 1250 rpm's. This should stop the sputtering once you take off the chokes. I only need half choke to start and can actually fully close them after one minute of driving. it will drop to 1000 rpm's then but that is no issue. It is more prone to sputtering if you need to keep the chokes on cause the idle is set too low. The chokes will then effectively overfuel the engine and the engone will sputter....
