Front Discs?

Would you believe it ive had my varadero off road for a few months to give it a proper clean and get rid of that nasty salt which as you are all aware gets effing everywhere!
So why i was there i fitted new chain and sprockets, some givi bars, standard dark screen,12v socket and a ram ball between my dials.(OH ER).I wheeled it down the road to get the chain joined properly then rode it home.....then low and behold one of my front discs is warpped
Now previous to taking it off the road i thought there my of been a slight pulsing thru the lever and coming to a gentle stop wasnt very easy but after speaking to a guy in a honda dealer he suggested just changing my pads as warppped discs arent likely!
This time it was unriderble and when i spin the front wheel it runs free then rubs the pads on one section about a quater of the disc, how can it feel sooo much worse when it hasnt been anywhere?
Anyway which way do i go standard honda/EBC(which is what these are!)/ or other and where from?
Had a look on Dave Silver about £210.

Did you ask david silver for the 2-3 week price it'a about 1/3 cheaper normally than the instant price, depending on the exchange rate

Re: Front Discs?

I replaced my original and slightly warped rear disc with an EBC replacement. I won't do that again!

If the bike's parked in the garage for more than a couple of days the rust on the disc is unbelievable, in fact there have been a number of occasions when I've actually wire brushed it to get some of the rust off before I go out on the bike.

In future, I'll pay the bit extra and get a Honda part.

Re: Front Discs?

You know what my front discs were exactly the same! I found riding it thru the winter they just get bad over night. Which did make me wonder weather to get them again.
Popped into my local dealer for a price of oe discs......£250 and telling me i should really buy new bolts aswell.....another £25.
Dave silver is £40 cheaper and he sends them thru the post Yet the honda dealer i went to is the one who supplies him...work that one out.
I didnt realise he may do them cheaper if you wait, trouble is i dont want to wait, but i my have to.
What about changing the bolts aswell ,is this really needed?

Re: Front Discs?

When I replaced the rear disc I asked the dealer (whom I trust - and not a Honda dealer) if I needed new bolts - he said that I didn't, unless I damaged them trying to get them out.

Easy enough to remove, using an impact driver with allen key bits.
