The bike I'm looking at is non-ABS with a set of Honda luggage included. The price looks very good. After reading some of your comments I'll have to check if it's an 08 or 09.

I'm surprised how many people have moved from a VFR to the Varadero, and clearly made the right move.

    Thanks for your responses.
Don't be put off by an 08 manufacture, which it almost certainly will be. It is exactly the same bike and the only difference is a colour change whereby the Orange ones became Yellow; the same Barley Yellow as the Alp. The Honda site is still showing the Orange but they are no longer producing it.

I have just realised that Honda have increased the new price to £8221 on the road. Geez, one month ago I got my new 09 reg, on the road, with topbox and heated grips for £6500.

£8221?!? Surely that's only so they can put the price back down next month and claim it's a bargain with £2000 off!

    Sorry to disappoint you Dave
That was the difference caused by the weak pound they have raised the price to make them roughly the same as the € priced

    I am not so sure.

Take a look at the Honda France prices and see how rip-off Britain is nothing compared to rip-off big time France.

Prix du neuf - Moto Station

Even with a bit of discount you are still going to pay in excess of £10K for a Varadero, £3.5K more than I did in Britain.

They have upped the price by about £900 then thrown in some panniers and lost the heated grips over the winter deal.

you would have thought with internet and international prices that they would have sorted themselves out by now
France is a bit more expensive than Germany but its still in the small percent mark, the Bargains are still in the UK but they wont last long
I'm sure they have devalued the pound deliberately to make the change onto €uro easier to sell to Joe Public it wont take long before the huge price difference narrows

Re: First post & question about Varadero

Thanks for the advice about moving from a VFR to the Varadero.
I've just collected my 57 plate Varadero with ABS, luggage, satnav. I got caught by the price increase so decided to get a secondhand one.
I might be wrong but it didn't look like the new priced Varaderos were shifting.
First impressions are that it is more comfortable than the VFR, riding position is better for me and it seems to get up to speed without any fuss.
I assume crash bars are recommended? Is it best to get the Givi ones?
