Side Stand Foot Plate

I have just seen some side stand extender plates on ebay, does anybody use one or if I was to make some does anybody want one? how big do you reckon they should be and is £10 reasonable?

Re: Side Stand Foot Plate

is that from the bloke in portugal? i think they look clumsy and OTT, and easy to make yourself if you must have one. just weld, braze or solder a bigger footplate onto the bottom of the stand.

Re: Side Stand Foot Plate

Had this conversation with a mate last last week
it depends on the ground the weather and how long the bike is going to stay on the stand
years ago a crushed can was used but I've used my glove, drift wood anything to spread the weight
If I was going off road and knew that the chances of having to use the stand in sand were high then I'd take a plastic foot on a cord

However if you plan to make something like this
10046805
then yes I would buy one I had a DR fall over in the summer when the Tarmac gave way, by all accounts we are going to get a summer this year I dont the Dero going over

Re: Side Stand Foot Plate

Chaed welded one onto my Tiger footpeg. It's about 1.5 inches in diameter and it's worked on fairly boggy campsites.

yeah thats what i use when i need to. tip 1- tie a bit of string to it with a loop to put over the bars so you can pull it up sat on the bike, and tip 2- keep it in your pocket in the summer, its not much use under the seat!

Re: Side Stand Foot Plate

I keep a plastic disk in my tank bag. Admitedly it can be tricky to pick up when leaving, but it keeps me supple!

I tie a wire to my Oxford mag pad so I can whip it off once I am ready to go, have to watchout for the whiplash as the magnet is quite strong

Re: Side Stand Foot Plate

guy I used to work with rode his gs 1150 to the Sahara and he got an ice hockey puck and bolted it to the stand. I don't think I need one as I don't get out that often now

Re: Side Stand Foot Plate

I thought a magnetic one would be pretty good too, so I searched the Oxford site but couldn't find anything about magnetic stand things. Mind you I was tired and had partaken of a few, so I could have missed what I was looking for....

Anyone got a link for this?
