Hmmm, I don't plan on any kind of fettling on my Vara when I'm out and about! I rode 3500 miles around Europe and didn't even need to adjust my chain, although that's not impossible on a side stand!
I use a paddock stand at home, handy for oiling the chain and taking off the back wheel for tyre changes. A mainstand is handy and I did have one on my last Vara. I'd be happy to have one but I'm not forking out for one for my new Vara. I manage fine with my cheap and nasty red paddock stand, possibly Motrax as well! Around £30? Works fine, I can use it myself but prefer to have someone hold the bike upright while I work the stand.
The Vara's heavy enough without more scaffolding tied beneath it!
