will 2003 model tank fit a model 2000 bike?

Hi All,

I don't really like the silver tank on my candy blue 2000 dero. Now I regularly see black tanks for a 2003 for sale but I am not sure if it is the same tank and will simply be a swap. Anyone???? Will the 2003 tank fit on a 2000 without modifications??

Thanks,

Marc

Thought about that too, then I would have it painted in the colour of the fairings.
Somehow sounds easier to just exchange tanks though, instead of looking for a good paint shop and being without tank, and bike, for god knows how long.....

You could always buy a black Bagster cover they look good, I've got a black tank and the scratches show up a lot more on black than on silver
Bagster still on my list of wants but it is a long list slowly getting shorter

I can't remember now but I think the older ones have fixings for the plastics top and bottom of tank where the new ones only have fixings at the top.
I might be mixing it up with the Africa twin tho?
Steve T has the black tank bag and looks good with it, I reckon that's the cheapest and most useful way to protect and change the colour of your tank mate.

Check with the model numbers, some times like on the Transalp 650 the model had very few changes through its life so it can have a part from an earlier bike fits mine and an 06 model.

I did buy a black bagster off of the german Ebay. It is on it's way. I didn't think of the visibility of the scratching on shiny black indeed.
Does anyone have a link to some part numbers so i could compare?
The older tank also has only the top fixings for the fairing. the twin indeed had top and bottom..

Second hand tanks are a bit cheaper......
But the site does not give partnumbers, pity, nice site......
You need a subscription somehow to get to the partnumbers.....
