    Clutch Probs

My bike has suddenly got very noisey! When running but sitting still i have gained a groan but when i pull the clutch lever it goes. Also it sounds more whinney than normal when ridding.
Do they have a thrust bearing like a car? Is it likely to be this?
Or is this just wishful thinking

    Re: Clutch Probs

I've developed the same problem as well on my 2000 Varadero - dealer says it may well not get any worse and could last for years but I would be interested in any thoughts on this - especially as I am doing a 3000+ mile journey to Croatia next month !

    Cheers

Hondas weak point is the clutch basket, as it wears it begins to rattle.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

the thrust bearing you would hear when pulling the clutch in...wierdly enough. The basket does indeed get noisy and the sound disappears when you pull in the clutch....all hondas do this, my alp, twin and now dero do this..they get real old with it.

You could try a different oil....?? But a basket rattle will always be there...if you want to feel better go nad find a nice Italian V-twin and stand next to that one at cold start....yours will sound quiet ....

I gave a similar reply to another thread about rattles, a Ducati sound like a bag of nails when it is cold.

    Re: Clutch Probs

    Well,

I would not really expect a really noticeable rattle while accelerating or backing off the throttle....but then, mine is too busy popping in the exhaust to hear a clutch rattle...

Maybe post a sound/video file on youtube?
