    Running problems 2000 Varadero XL1000V

My bike has developed a running problem which my local dealer seems unable to sort out.

At constant low speed - 30mph - and round 3000 revs it is continually missing but will accelerate with no problems at all from this speed and will run fine at 45mph +

I have had it serviced and the pilot jets cleaned out on the carbs - can anyone help with any suggestions

    Thanks

I didn't notice any mention of miles? If it's high miles it could be worn needles in the carbs.
First question I'd ask is does it have a dynojet kit fitted? If so get rid of it and refit Honda jets and needles.
At the revs you say I think it's a fuelling problem, but finding it? Damn!

Look for air leaks around the carb rubbers / intake system. Check that one of the carb balance blanking plugs hasn't dropped off. If you have a scotoiler fitted disconnect and bung up the connector on the manifold and test ride again.

Worth checking the carb balance as out of balance carbs can give a hunting effect at small throttle openings which sometimes feels like a missfire.

and check if all the hoses have been reconnected under the tank, assuming you had it off to get to the carbs....

Thanks for that - very helpful.

Mileage is 32000 so not too high and it is more of a hunting that a mis fire so will invest in a carb balance I think - can't do any harm other than empty my pockets of more cash

    Thanks again
