should be fine, I have a AA & AAA battery charger that I have used fron th epower socket, and place in the tank bag.. just keep an eye on it, and dont have it too insulated.. ( you could always open the zip a wee bit and have it in a side pocket if the bag has one )

thanks raymo i was planning to put the socket in a baglux so leaving the zip open should be ok as long as its not raining.

Do you mean a 12v car charger? Shouldn't be any problem - try it at home and make sure the charger doesn't heat up.

Make sure you put a fuse between the socket and the battery in case the cable gets damaged. The fuse will blow before your battery does...

the socket/plug wont get warm, but the charger transformer might. but the 12v car charger wont get any warmer than the 240v home charger though.
certainly not hot enough to damage anything.

Put a real low value fuse in for use with the in bag charger, rather than a 15-20 fuse that would usually be used fro a 12v socket say 2-3 amps..
you must fuse it as the wire will be free running to the tank bag and easily snagged/ trapped and you would not want the full capacity of your battery shorting through your fuel tank

Just spoke to my lawyer.. don’t do it.. Stay at home and sit in a padded box... but only a box that has been approved for this purpose

in all seriousness take care I have see a video of a fuel station attendent using the light on his mobile to check the fuel level in a tanker truck that was unloading.. this act was followed by a huge flash and the guy appearing 20 feet away rolling in flames.. ( he did not make it )..

make sure your fuel cap is tight and that you have not soaked your tank bag in fuel at the last fill up...

ohh here's the lawyer again sending me back to my wee box
