    Hugger and Oiler Questions

    Hi All,

    Couple of questions.
    1. Does the Skidmarx Hugger require the rear wheel to be removed?

    2. I'm in the middle of fitting a Pro-Oiler (wiring all in place) but I'm trying to find a good place for the oil container bottle, I’ve got a 08 ABS, the standard fitment suggestion is behind the rear cross frame member under the seat, but that is now taken up by the electronic ignition control box. Thinking of behind the number plate, or lying down (not great) under the seat. Any more ideas?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Chris.

    Re: Hugger and Oiler Questions

    Hi Chris,

I fitted my skidmarx hugger last week and the rear wheel has to come out. I tried all manner of ways trying to squeeze it in my no way. Gave me a chance to slap some grease on the rear spindle anyway.

I fitted a scottoiler at the same time and decided to mount it under the seat see photo (crappy mobile shot). Easy access and hidden away.

    Regards, Ian

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for the quick reply and pic, bugg3r on the hugger front I'll save that for a rainy day, and the Pro-Oiler has a larger bottle than the Scottoiler so wont fit there, it does just fit under the cross member lying down (kind of where your Starcom is), but it means I can't fill the reservoir easily.

This is their example location, but cant be done on a VA8:

    Re: Hugger and Oiler Questions

Blimey that is a big bottle, I can see your problem.

BTW, I had to take a file to my hugger as some of the holes were a little off. I have seen worse though. I also filled the joining gap between the crap flap and the main part of the hugger with some instant rubber gasket when I bolted it together. All in an effort to keep as much muck of those rear shock linkages.

    Regards, Ian

    Re: Hugger and Oiler Questions

I fitted the ProOiler about 2 years ago
I removed all the rear fairing trying to find a suitable place and up by the rear light there is tons of space
The CDI unit I replaced and it sits upright on the LHS in its place fitted with the supplied sticklebrick velcro is the ProOiler power unit and on the RHS the oil bottle which can be removed quickly for refilling
The pump itself I pushed under the Bike D-lock mounting clip
