    Smile Key Switch on Varadero

    Hi,

I have a question" Does the Varadero have a 4 position key-switch which allows the parking and hazard lights to be on without the key?

The thing is that I have an Africa Twin RD07A and in an attempt to "urbanize" it I have fitted the Varadero Light switch, which has a position for Hazard Lights (4-way Blinkers), and they work well while the bike is in motion, but if I have to leave the bike with the hazard lights on, I have to leave the key there, which is a problem waiting to happen.

If someone can answer this, or shed some light, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks,

    Luigi

On my 04 vara you can turn the key past the on position for the ignition but you can not remove the key, but hazard lights will work,
    Hope this is some help,
    Ian.

on my '07 if you switch the ignition off but with the hazards already on they will stay on. Obviously a relay or electronic device of some sort in there to make that happen, but way beyond my 'ken for electricity.

Red face Re: Key Switch on Varadero

    Daer Friends,

Thanks to all for your input. Any idea on which motorcycle similar to the Africa Twin, Varadero or Transalp would have a switch with parking/light position that would allow you to remove the key? It's pretty basic, because my 1979 CBX had it, although it did not have the hazard lights.

For now, it seems I will have to think of installing a switch in a safe place, like under the seat.

    Thanks

    Luigi
