Don't have to take off the helmet to receive make phone call.

I've used this when stopped to make calls when need of fuel to use the Zumo - get the fuel station's and it will bring up their phone number - we've rung several of these when in remote areas that were either closed or did not have fuel - better to check than get there and end up stranded. We have been on the edge of running out in Romania and Morocco

Tend to only do this if offroading with minimal fuel in tank so as not to carry too much weight and then go find some fuel when playtime's over

Bluetooth dongle for the phone although I have bypassed this for the moment and connected to the satnav, an old street pilot 550 which will only accept one bluetooth device, I've opted for that so I can dial out as well.
As with Panrider being self employed I need to be available or the next guy gets the job

As for cables I ride alone so the passenger plug has a heat shrink cable wrap and is stashed under the seat, my cable loops over the front of the seat and gets tucked away when not in use.

    Re: autocom

On the Autocom the Bluetooth dongle cannot be used in conjunction with another output (i.e. no splitter)
It does however allow more than one device to be connected, so I had mine Linked to the Tomtom rider, had the Phone linked to both Tomtom and autocom. The phone then ran via the Tomtom Screen.
As I hate Phones I disconnected it and only carry it for in case I breakdown as it is always miles from a working landline.

    Thanks Derek
On the phone front I have cabled the MP3, 2 way radio and phone connectors up to the top box via a locking din plug (which allows me to remove the topbox). That way I can plug the phone, radio etc in the topbox and there is no need to lift the seat.

The drivers headset lead hangs down by the preload adjuster and can be tucked away if not in use. the passenger one lives under the seat when not needed.

I can post photos if they would help.

Why bother with all these wires, Bluetooth everything, that way there is no fuss, just switch all your devices on and watch them connect to each other all by themselves. Its a piece of piss really

It certainly seems to be an option on the newer kit but for the older stuff that some of us have its not really an option. Can you get MP3 players with bluetooth connectivity?

Do not bother it has a wire which comes with the Autocom that plugs into the earphone socket. Just plug it in adjust the volume and off you go.
I have the ipod /mp3 player in tankbag plugged into the autocom, and the Tom Tom on bluetooth works well enough, sometimes the bluetooth will drop out and take a little while to relink, so it is best to have music hard wired.

I use the MP3 player which is built in to my Zumo 550, or if I'm not taking the sat nav I use the music player on the phone. Either way it works well and its one less device to carry
