    ticking when off throttle?????

    hello All,

When braking on the engine i hear a light ticking from the engine. The second I use the clutch the ticking is gone. Almos has the light sound as the clicking from the fuel pump. I don't hera it at idle so only when rolling off the throttle untill i squeeze the clutch. Any ideas? Is a 2000 dero with 22.000 miles on the clock. Needs valve clearance checked but that click is very light and present with or without clutch. If it were cam chain i would hear it constntly right?

    thanks for any tip,
    Marc

Mine does the same it just a bit of clutch rattle nothing to worry about almost sounds like a cam chain tensioner fault but not as loud.

Now that is what I call good news, i was already surprised Honda would be that crap after 20.000 miles...... The clutch does have some play in it's cage yes. Idle with the clutch out is quite loud...

Ticking noise is getting more audable and persisten so i ordered a set of cam chain tensioners anyway. I expect them in a few days so now i need advise; can I just take out the old ones and stick in the new ones? Or do I risk movement in the chain when taking out the old tensioners and then potentially upset the timing?
I remember exchanging the tensioner on my car and it was a simply out and back in again...no issues....

Thanks for any tip that will keep this job simple.. buggers are in a cr*p spot as it is.....
