carb synching?

Hi All,

I was synching my carbs the other day. With both carbs measuring identical vacuum values on a good measuring thingy the idle was lower then when the synch would be just off.
Gut feeling would tell me tthat a good synch would make the engine run more easily and the idle should go up and not down. Am I wrong here or is there a good reason for the idle to lower in rpm when the synch is spot on according to measurement?

Possibly but the act of balancing the carbs adds or removes throttle from one carb so it is reasonable to expect if one carb is open too much tickover would increase slightly.

Try ballancing them and then swap the gauges around to check the gauges are consistant in their readings.

very good point......i did synchronize them according to the tool read outs and did reverse the meters. I was just not sure. Sounds logical what you say...thanks for the peace of mind
