Another lights questions 125xl (after the new starter switch)!

I posted few weeks back about both my main beams not working, thanks to great help on here it was fixed by replacing the starter/kill switch.

Right I may be going totally mad...... but since installing the new starter/kill switch something mad has happened.

When the old orginal switch was on the bike when the key was turned to ignition the two side lights AND BOTH main beams came on, once the bike started again both side lights and BOTH main beam lights were on. I could flick the high beam switch and BOTH main lights would flight up (or whatever the correct high beam term is)

NOW with the new switch when it was installed it worked exactly the same as above.... BUT yesterday I noticed that when i start the bike only ONE main beam bulb comes on along with the side lights? Then when i flick the highbeam switch THE OTHER BULB COMES ON??

1 - Is this normal for other Varadros, one main beam then second on highbeam?

2 - Why when installed did both come on and now just one? (Honestly it was the two that came on when first installed!)

3 - Could this be a feature of the newer version switch? My bike is a 2005 but the new switch looks the same albiet a bit more rounded, but the guy in the Honda garage said its the same part number from 2002 up to the new ones?

Bit confused thats all.... sorry for the long post but had to describe it fully.

    cheers

    i

I would check the bulbs and wiring as it sounds like a loose connection or blown bulbs

Ditto. Looking at the wiring diagram here: Free Image Hosting and Free Picture Hosting - View Image xl125v.color.jpg in Real Size shows that both lights are wired together in the loom. I'd suspect one filament from each bulb has blown - unless yours has different wiring. Try swapping the bulbs over and see if the operate the other way around. If they do, new bulbs will solve it. If they don't then you have a wiring problem.

    cheers all....

i have new bulbs in work will try them both tomorrow.

hoep to god its not a wiring problem

hopefully its just a small job as they were both working fine for a few days after the new switch went in. it cant be the switch as its new and the wire goes all the way back to the connection under the tank which i clicked in fine.

hopefully just the bulbs, fingers crossed

    Fingers crossed

You probably know this already but don't touch the glass part of the bulb when putting them in.

Let us know how you get on.

right this is getting more strange!

change both bulbs with new ones, the ones i took out both filiments in each bulb were intact!

once the new bulbs were in i switched the ingintion on, i looked at the bulbs and the problem was reveresed? I then noticed the high beam was on, i flicked this off and both bulbs light up?

it has to be a dodgy connection somewhere?

so to recap, when ignition is on and highbeam is off both bulbs are one, which is correct. when i flight highbeam one of them goes out!

i think it may be a connector on the back of the actual bulb housing... when i get chance im going to strip, clean all the contacts again.

it think all the problems originally started when i swapped the stock crappy bulbs for some fancy fake xenon blue ones.... took me ages to find out how to get to the bulbs and was messing about for ages.

anyway its not major as its summer and i have lights for now... just annoying!!

Check for a loose plug the wires must link somewhere.
It could even be on the holder itself.
