hi Adrian welcome to the site. Your question is fine where it is and you've not cocked anything up.

Can't give you an answer though although I am sure someone who knows more than me (which won't be that difficult to find) will be along shortly

Welcome andrew, You'd probably be better off with a pair of throw over soft panniers......you might have to ensure there's some protection to keep them off the exhaust though

    Welcome to the forum,
Nice choice of first bike. Beats the run of the mill learners.

They get used quite a lot out here as the transport of choice for "Cisco" (Singapore equivelant of Group 4 Security), with top box, complete with flashing red light, panniers and quite often two up. They cope admirably and it's usually 30 deg ambient here. Haven't got pics but I think the boxes that get used most are Givi.

Just be careful you check the model year, changes 06.

Hard case panniers are great, especially as they're waterproof and resitant to thieves. However, they can be very expensive and they aren't easy to transfer to another bike. If you think you might change your bike in a year or so, as DC says, you might be better off with soft throw-over panniers. They'll fit just about any bike.
